I MADE A ‘PICK-A-PATH’ AMERICAN FOOTBALL GAME ON TWITTER AND TRIED TO MAKE IT A CAMPAIGN FOR THE SUPERBOWL

CLIENT : BUDWEISER
BRIEF : LOCAL SUPERBOWL ACTIVATION
IDEA : BUDWEISER TWITTERBOWL
For Budweiser, their biggest time of year for sales in NZ is Superbowl weekend. And much like Bud, the Superbowl has a cult following in New Zealand.

Our insight was that most international fans got to NFL fandom via gaming, with Sega & Madden being the birth of that.

So in an attempt to appeal to that nostalgia and create a unique and fun interaction point for the brand and fans, we pitched the idea of manipulating Twitter's UX to create a budget-minded pick-a-path game with a Sega Master System aesthetic.

AND IN AN AFTERNOON, THE BETA FOR BUDWEISER TWITTERBOWL WAS BORN.

The game would set you up in the holiest of moments in football. The game-winning drive, in the Superbowl. You would have to make the right calls on multiple plays to lead your team to glory. What awaited the winners, was the surprise reward for discounted Budweiser. And the losers? Crushing defeat brought to them in 16bit fashion.
A simple and mostly free (design and animation aside) thing to set up with the idea that it could be face-lifted for any of the 3 major American sports. This was mocked up entirely by myself and proactively presented to client and received positively.
Sadly, they didn't have the budget to follow through with it so it’s very much BETA. They decided they wanted to go with some Facebook events instead.

Nice.
