IDEA : THIS IS NOT JUST A LONG WEEKEND

2022 Marked the first publicly recognised Matariki. It was an opportunity for us as a nation to set expectations for the years to come; on how we act, how we celebrate, and how we want it to run moving forward.

It was important that we didn’t use our smaller budget to just repeat the same information as every other brand. So instead we focused on a unique and authentic point of view, Kai.
It is such a massive component of Matariki. Four of the cluster’s nine stars symbolise kai (Waitī, Waitā, Tupuānuku, Tupuārangi), and the act of coming together with friends and whānau to share a feast is one of the best ways to celebrate the coming new year.
As a place that’s home to a world-class Māori-inspired restaurant, and two means of traditional Māori cooking (kai ngāwhā and hāngī), Te Puia offers a unique kai experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

it was important that we continue to respond to the high level experience given by te puia, so we returned to our completely hand-crafted type approach to layer in the detail and humanity to our visual comms.
